Adam Sandler attacked by cheetah during African safari: ‘I was going to let him eat me’

The comedian recounted his harrowing experience on ‘Late Show’ with David Letterman, saying he was ‘very nervous.’

Adam Sandler's recent trip to South Africa was apparently the cat's meow.
Sitting down with David Letterman, the "Grown Ups 2" star recalled a wild encounter with a cheetah while on a safari that left him a little shaken, and purred.
The comedian brought a quick video of his encounter with the big cat.

"This is a true story," he began. "I went there, and they let me in with a cheetah…and said I could feed the cheetah water with my hands. So I did it, and it went a little bit wrong."
Sandler, 46, then showed the video, in which the large spotted cat circles him before pouncing on his back.

A female handler quickly pulls the large cat off, and it calmly walks away. Perhaps it just got excited at the sight of a movie star? 
"They said you're not supposed to bend down low with the water," Sandler said. "I was very nervous...it was fast."

The actor explained that he had a stiff neck at the time, so wasn't able to move or react.
"When he jumped on me, all I was going to do was let him eat me," Sandler joked.
An unsuspecting Sandler has a cheetah pounce on his back.

"There was not one part of me that was going to fight back. I was like 'alright, this is how I'm dying.'"

After the cheetah pounced, a handler pulled it away.
