"And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which have a dumb spirit; and wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him; and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away...Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief."- Mark 9: 17,18,23,24. The child being tormented by an unclean spirit was about to meet the Great Physician who was to heal him. Surely the father of this child was an honest man, he said to Christ ;"help thou mine unbelief"...How honest can one be? This man had a problem of unbelief and the Lord was more than willing to help this man.
How many of us struggle with unbelief? Though you a Christian or a non-believer? What more of you dear atheist? Having a problem with believing the sure word of God while deep down in you you have a desire of following the Lord Jesus but you just don't know what to do because of your unbelief? Yes this things happen. Just at some point you may be wanting to confess Christ as Lord but then seem like there is a force behind that is holding you back not to reach unto Christ. Well my brother, my sister, and my elder, there is a remedy for unbelief. The man Jesus himself, just like he helped the father of the child, he is also capable of giving you aid and cure that terrible disease. Yes! Because he can.
He gives a call saying, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" Though in your life you may be burdened with sins, take them to Jesus, for he is "meek and lowly in heart" and "you shall find rest unto your souls." because his "yoke is easy" and his "burden light"- Matthew 11:28-30. In him can we find pardon and mercy, and he will in deed pardon us, releasing us from the guilt of sin. So even your unbelief he can convert it to belief, dear atheist and fellow believer, by his power we become conquerors. So you can cry out to him like that father saying "help thou mine unbelief."
You see, God died for the whole world, not for a selected few. Sin affects all humanity, thus the Creator alone could die for the creatures he had created: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life."- John 3:16. So we to believe in Christ, and when you got a problem with unbelief, Jesus is near, call him, he shall answer your prayer. He loves you so much that he was willing to die, and resurrect on your behalf. He gave up the glory in heaven that you may have a share in his kingdom. He took a risk and he lived a perfect life that his sacrifice for you and me was acceptable in the sight of God. It is not the will of the Father that any should perish, this is why he is still holding back before he comes, giving us an opportunity to come to him in repentace. And brother Peter caught this when inspired by the Holy Spirit saying "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise [his second coming], as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."- 2 Peter 3: 9.
"For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye."- Ezekiel 18:32. What a loving God. Turn to God.
And you my fellow Christian sometime life can get so tough in such a way that you can ask yourself; "Where is God when I need him most" well, we must need him most every moment of our lives, and he is ever near to us. When trials hit you, you need not to say, "Lord remove the trials from me" but rather " O Lord, go with me through this trying hour" thus your faith will be strong, that though trials may come, they do not stay forever, "for the Lord shall deliver me." And Christ did not promise that at this life when you follow him you will just have a smooth road but said; "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."- John 16:33. And ever had to fill sad because you sinned against the Lord? maybe feeling that you may not be worthy of his forgiveness? Well Christ is ever ready to forgive: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness" "If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."- 1John 1:9; 2:1.
"For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities: but was in all point tempted like as we are, yet without sin." and because of this "he is able to succor them that are tempted." Hebrews 4:15; 2:18. For through him can we do all things, but without him we are nothing. God loves you my fellow Christian, God loves you atheist, God loves every one. Let us come to him in truth, he can help our unbelief, our lack of faith. He is Powerful. He is the Power.
