Mass graves, tunnels discovered in Boko Haram enclave in Maiduguri

The Joint Task Force, (JTF), on Monday, said it
dislodged Boko Haram terrorists from their main
enclaves in Bulabulin Ngarnam, Aljajeri and
Falujja areas of Maiduguri metropolis during an
operation carried out between July 3-8.
It said some terrorists were killed in the fire
fight, including the main Amir of Bulabulin
Ngarman, who has been on its wanted list, with
N10 million bounty.
In a statement made available to newsmen in
Maiduguri, the JTF said that Amir was
responsible for the killing of a teacher and three
students of Sanda Kyarami secondary school
Ruwan Zafi in Maiduguri metropolis.
It was further disclosed that many
women, girls and children were
rescued and handed over to their families by the
task force.
Also during the search, many arms and
ammunition of various calibres buried inside
houses and cemetries were recovered.
The statement added that decomposing corpses
of those killed by terrorists were also found in
soak-away and mass graves.
Vast network of holes linking compounds and
underground tunnels as well as bunkers were also
discovered, even as troops are still searching the
area.
