Eye witness said the deceased was crushed to death by a trailer while crossing the expressway.
The local footballer was crushed to death when he was coming out of a roadside bush where he went to ease himself.
DailyPost learnt that the development propelled villagers around the vicinity to set the trailer ablaze.
The situation led to a heavy gridlock, leaving motorist stranded for several hours as the major highway was totally blocked.
A source hinted that the situation became more intense when some soldiers allegedly opened fire on the protesters.
One of the villagers said ”The protest was hijacked by some suspected hoodlums who forcefully extorted money from stranded motorists.
”Even some private and commercial drivers, together with their passengers abandoned their vehicles and fled into the bush so as not to be attacked by the hoodlums, This is an ugly incident.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO] Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident said the Command had deployed some of its men to the area, but added that he was awaiting the Divisional Police Officer [DPO] in Ore to give him details on the incident.
He said normalcy had however returned to the area, and vehicles have resumed uninterrupted movement already.
