An attorney for Michael Jackson's family has put a price on what a company owned by Denver financier Philip Anschutz should have to pay, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The attorney, Brian Panish, told jurors during his closing arguments that AEG Live should have to pay $85 million to each of Jackson's three children and $35 million to his mother, Katherine Jackson. The trial is wrapping up after five months, and this is the first time the size of the damages the Jacksons are seeking has been revealed.
In addition to personal damages, the Jacksons are demanding AEG Live pay economic damages to cover lost income after the singer died in 2009. An expert witness testified Jackson would have earned $1.2 billion to $1.6 billion had he lived.
Jackson died of an injection of an anesthetic administered by Dr. Conrad Murray, who was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The Jacksons claim AEG Live was negligent for having hired Murray. AEG Live insists the doctor worked for Jackson.
