Before the signing of the MoU yesterday, the leadership of ASUU has promised and boasted that the union will in 24hours suspend the 6months old strike that has paralysed the academic activities of our public universities; on the contrary, the union avowed that the process to call off the strike will take them another 7days. This is quit insensitive on the side of ASUU.
Dr. Nassir Fagge, ASUU president confirmed to reporters yesterday that MoU has been signed and the union will have to convey another National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the union to understudy the MoU already signed by both parties before the strike could be called off.
God forbid, we pray another prominent member ASUU is not dead again that will make the union to reverse it decision of putting an end to the strike. It will be recalled that ASUU was at the verge of calling off the strike when a prominent member, a former president of the union, Festus Iyayi died in a fatal accident on his way to ASUU NEC meeting in Kano
So far so good, ASUU has no moral justification not to call off the strike within 24hours after agreement signed as the union has promised millions of Nigerians.
