I’M INTO ALL ASPECTS OF ROMANCE — BISOLA BEYONCE

The name Joke Jigan may not ring a bell in the ears of many lovers of Yoruba home videos, but the name Bisola Beyonce will surely do. In this interview.
the actress cum producer speaks on her foray into acting, romance and fashion preferences. Excerpts:
Growing up
It  was fun. I am from a rich home. I am not saying my last name is “ Dangote,” but when you are content with what you have, I believe you are rich in your own way. My parents made sure I got all I wanted as a child. Even now, when I am broke, my mom still sends me money.   I used to play a lot with my friends. I could recollect that my mom loved it when we played hide and seek, so, I got so used to that, whenever my friends came around  we would play and we had lots of fun . My primary and secondary education was done in  Ogun State, after which   I proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University but I am now rounding off at the Lagos State University, Ojo. I am studying Business Administration.
Foray into acting
My elder sister, Idowu Jigan was into acting and I used to follow her to locations. After some time, she stopped because she said it was too stressful for her.  After watching her act,  I  would  stay in front of the mirror and imitate her actions. I also act for our family and friends so, I started getting used to it and that was it. I want to use this medium to blow her kisses because she has always been there for me. She did a television series, her stage name was Grace. My friends used to ask me in school then if she was my sister and I would proudly say yes. I joined the movie industry about five years ago through Shola Akintunde Lagata’s Theatre Art Academy. I have featured in quite a number of movies but two movies, Ikoko and Bisola Beyonce gave me fame. Aside acting, I have a wine bar in Ogun State, Ijebu Ife to be precise.
Challenges faced
It  is not that easy to become an actress. Before  joining the  industry, one would  think  it was easy to get fame but believe me, it  didn’t  work that way, there was a particular location I went to and I was there for a week and I didn’t even get to do a ‘waka pass’ role. I was so sad when I got home and didn’t even know how to tell my mom, but I kept pushing on and here I am today all thanks to God. When I told my parents that I wanted to become an actress, their exact word was “ Adejoke ooki se omo kekere mo” ( Adejoke you are no longer a child), you should know what you want so, we won’t stop you. If that is your dream then, go after it and please always be prayerful. We are behind you hundred per cent” olorun agba fun e” you won’t regret it.
Description of self
I am easy going, hard working, down- to -earth, sexy and pretty. I am a good person.
Philosophy of life
Life is beautiful, it is fun but trust me, it is never always a bed of roses so, have fun while it lasts and always know what you are doing because life is very short. Also, put God first always.
Sex for role
No! I’ve been a producer from day one, my mom gave me money for my first production.
My movie productions
My first movie was entitled Idoti. I love challenges so, I told my mom I wanted to produce and play the lead role, it wasn’t easy, but I was able to do it. If you  watch the movie “Idoti”  you will see my acting really wasn’t that perfect so my mom told me to join a group so I could  learn before producing another movie.  That was why I joined Lagata Threatre  Group. My other works are Olote, Ihoho mi, Ikoko, Bisola Beyonce
Role models
Bukky Wright and Tonto Dike.
Definition of style
My definition of style is trendy and classy but never trashy. My mood determines my mode of dressing. I believe if you are comfortable then, you are good to go. Comfort comes first and that always works for me. I believe one should dress to please oneself because one can’t please everybody. I am comfortable in both formal and casual outfits but I wear casual more.
Beauty regimen
I go to the spa regularly.  I don’t overdo it with make-up. I bathe and apply cream like everyone else. I don’t believe in applying this and that but seriously, I don’t joke with spa. It costs me a whole lot of money and time to look good.
Choice of accessories
I love classy accessories. I adore shoes and I have loads of them. I am not really a bag person but I have bags too.  As for jewellery, I use gold, silver or costume jewellery.
Accessories I can’t do without
Sometimes, I don’t even wear any, you can even tell from watching my movies. My little sister  who follows me to location sometimes force me to wear them. I can go out wearing just my jean and top and I am totally cool without any accessory, not even earrings.
Favourite designers
Christian Louboutin, Vera Wang, Tom Ford and a whole lot of them.
Favourite perfumes
I have different kinds but I like my Tom Ford’s Black Orchid more. I also have this new one that I just got as a gift Olalee by Oalee by a Nigerian lady, I really like that too.
Favourite colour
It is baby pink.
Opinion on toning
Everyone is entitled to  her own opinion. If you want to tone, fine, if you don’t want to, it is fine too. Dark or light skinned, we are all beautiful, and trust me, Africans are beautiful people.
What I won’t be caught dead wearing
Anything that I am not comfortable in.
Most expensive item in my wardrobe
I have a whole lot and I can’t start mentioning them.
Opinion on cosmetic surgery
I don’t like it. Moreover, there is nothing I will like to change about myself.
On provocative dressing
There are a million and one ways you can flaunt your asset without going to the extreme by revealing what you are not supposed to. I am just saying that I don’t believe one should dress provocatively, I am however not criticising it.

On whether  actresses are the ones promoting indecent dressing
I don’t believe it because we don’t do that. If you have to wear something indecent in a movie, it means you are portraying a role and in the long run, the girl in question might end up with something bad or end up being a born again. Something always happens to such people because  you can’t be indecent in a movie all through. That  won’t pass across any message at all, something always happens at the end but in most cases, people don’t really notice our effort or what message we are trying to pass across, they just want to criticise us.
But it is all good, it is part of the job but trust me, we are trying.
Special treat.
I go shopping.
Favourite pastime
I invite my friends over and cook for them. We will eat, drink and sleep. When we wake up,  we can then decide to drive around or just sit at home all day gisting. I just love having them around when I want to relax. Yes I go to clubs but I neither drink nor smoke.
My hair and nail
I like getting them both done every other day. I am a lady, so I have to look glamorous.
Secret of beauty
God.
Keeping fit
I exercise and diet.
Greatest physical asset
I am very sexy so, I consider every part of my body to be an asset.
On romance
I am very romantic. Name all aspect of romance and  I am all into it.
Most romantic thing I’ve ever done
Am I supposed to tell you that, abi?
Qualities I want in a man
As for the qualities, my sister, that guy must be hard working, because me sef no dey play, money must join the looks, I no talk say you must be Bill Gates’s son, but the man sef must think of our children’s  future.
Best beauty advice
“ Joke abeg no bleach o.”  You are perfect the way you are. That was from my mother.
Likes and dislikes
I like down- to- earth people. I don’t like fake people, that is why my friends are very few
Advances from male fans
I sabi handle them wella.
Most embarrassing moment as an actress
The day I fell down on my face at the airport. It was really embarrassing, I wished for a miracle but none came so, I stood up and moved on.
Pains and gains of being a celebrity
Fame is sweet because it opens doors for one. On the other hand, I can’t enter a bus like I used to.
Coping with competition in the industry
I just do my thing, I am not competing with anybody. The only person I want to be better than is who I was yesterday.
