The Day Wizkid, Banky W, Wande Coal, others rocked OAU

WANDE Coal, Wizkid, Banky W, Sound Sultan and Harry Song gave students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State a memorable day on Saturday, February 22 at the SWAG concert that ended the 24th Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA) hosted by the institution.

The show sponsored by Diamond Bank Plc and held inside the university’s amphitheatre also featured DJ Exclusive and comedian Seyi Law who regaled the audience with rib-cracking jokes.
It wasn’t all about the artistes however as talented OAU students also showcased their talents before the main acts took centre-stage. Banky W, who was performing for the first time at OAU, appreciated the crowd for the love shown to him while an elated Wizkid exclaimed, “It seems I have a choir here!” after the students didn’t miss a line from his songs.
Speaking earlier while opening the concert, Uzoma Dozie, Executive Director, Retail Banking, Diamond Bank Plc said: “This is not an evening for long speeches. Rather, we are here to relax and have fun. However, I would like to thank you all for embracing the Diamond SWAG (Students With A Goal) Account and for all the support we have received from the students of OAU in putting this event together. I have no doubt it’s going to be a night of pure fun, so please relax and enjoy the event.”
Ayona Trimnell, head of the bank’s corporate communications division, spoke in the same vein. She explained that the concert was organised to help the students unwind after 10 days of intense sporting competition.  “This is our little way of appreciating the youths who embraced our new proposition, the Diamond SWAG Account in their thousands while the games lasted. We thought we should create this atmosphere of relaxation and fun to help them unwind after 10 days of intense sporting activities,” she said.
