Information reaching us from the Tai Solarin university of education (TASUED) Ijebu Ode has it that protests by students of the institution Yesterday 10th of June turned violent after the school's security men who were called to calm the situation began to shoot indiscriminately at the students.
The students protested over the management's decision not to allow some students to write the ongoing examinations due to failure in paying their school fees.
However, the students, in disagreement with the management asked that the school should at least accept part payment, a plea that fell on deaf ears.
Other sets of students claimed they have paid their school fees but were not allowed to print their receipts and show as proof due to a fault in the student payment portal.
They also claimed others paid their school fees but could not find their names in the registration portal.
The student's action which started as a peaceful protest escalated when the school's security shot at a particular student who however did not die because of the charms he had been fortified with.
This turned the students into an uncontrollable rage and they proceeded to vandalise the vice chancellor's office, the student union building and vehicles.
Men of the OP-MESA were then called in to curb the situation and this turned to another round of violence as the soldiers seized the opportunity to reign more terror on the students, arresting them and taking them to an unknown destination.
No statement from TASUED authorities has been made concerning the situation.
