 A 32-year-old woman chopped off the genitals of her brother-in-law and walked into a police station with the severed organ as a piece of evidence, alleging it was the only option to stop him.

Before police could reach the man with medical support, he committed suicide.

This incident was reported from Churhat area in Sidhi district at 6am on Thursday. Police were in a baffled situation after the woman entered police station with the dismembered genital and her three children.

Her husband works in Nashik. She was living with her-brother-in-law who allegedly had been raping her for days, said police.

When he forced himself on me, I faked consent and severed his privates with a sickle, she told police.

Her brother-in-law's body was found hanging from a tree near their house.

Sidhi SP Abid Khan told TOI that she has been booked for attempt to murder. "This is a rare case and has to be investigated for a proper chargesheet," he said. Police said the woman is mentally stable and has no regrets to what she has done.
