Google is reportedly looking for a newest addition to their team. One skill you must have is the ability to catch them all... Pokémon. Seriously?
On April Fool's Day, Google launched one of its biggest pranks yet as the clock struck 12 in Japan and Australia, PC Magazine have said. Google software engineer Tatsuo Nomura, who proclaimed himself to be an "Advanced Pokémon Trainer," wrote a job advertisement on a company blog post calling all individuals who could aid the search engine company to catch all wild Pokémon who have taken the streets, forests and mountains throughout Google Maps. They even have a video to accompany the job advertisement. See below.
So what does Google look for in the right individual who can join their team? Nomura said in his blog post, "We value employees who are risk-taking and detail-oriented, have deep technical knowledge, and can navigate through tall grass to capture wild creatures."
While it is up to you whether you have the right, ahem, skills to be a Pokémon Master and actually take this job advert seriously, CNETsaid that Google has been known to pull a prank or more in the past few years every April beginning 2000. The effort poured into such pranks are beginning to be more grandiose and requires a lot of involvement each year, the tech news site have said. Just last year, people were caught offguard when Google announced that it would be shutting down beloved vide site YouTube and will be picking a "winning video," in commemoration. Aside from the YouTube prank, Google also released a Gmail update promising to enhance the mail service better by making everything in the email in the color blue, launched a treasure hunt mode for its Google Maps and Google Nose, a beta-test product.
If you choose to disregard the obvious, you may want to begin the search for Pokémon in the attempts of joining Google by grabbing your smartphone and use the latest version of Google Maps on your Android or iPhone, tap search bar, press start and start looking for them. CNET said Google has flooded only 150 of those creatures in real locations for your to "catch" with your mobile phone. Deadline is until 2PM PT, but the tech news site doubt that you'd actually get a job if you're the winner.
